Naturopathic doctor

Naturopathic Doctor in Victoria BC, Winnipeg MB & Online!

Are you struggling to find comprehensive medical care?

Are you tired of waiting to connect with your doctor, being told you can only discuss one concern per visit, waiting years to see a specialist, having your complaints dismissed, being told everything looks normal even though you don’t feel well, or leaving with only a pharmaceutical prescription after your short visit?

Did you know that over half of Canadian adults aged 18 to 79 have used at least one prescription medication in the past month?

If these concerns sound familiar to you, chances are you aren’t receiving the kind of care that you need to step forward into your health and healing.

Working with a naturopathic doctor is very different!

Symptoms (whether physical, mental, emotional, or even spiritual) are an expression of imbalance in the mind and body which we have become conditioned to think needs to be resolved, oftentimes immediately.

These symptoms are actually an innate response and adaption to your internal and external environment and can be both acute and chronic in nature. While it may not feel like it, your mind and body is working with you, not against you when this is occurring.

Oftentimes this is where we interfere, trying to stop this natural process in its tracks. We take painkillers for headaches, drink caffeine for energy, and medications to fall asleep believing the absence of the symptom is indicative of a solved problem.

It may come as no surprise to realize this is short-sighted medicine: the actual cause of the imbalance is not being addressed and the body’s attempt to work through that stress is met with a suppressive intervention.

I certainly do not want my patients to struggle through pain and am not suggesting they suffer, but I am proposing there is another way.

Naturopathic medicine is about respecting and embracing the innate healing potential and wisdom of the body, including the incredible interconnectedness of our body, mind, and spirit.

I am a licenced Naturopathic Doctor in Victoria BC, Winnipeg MB. Either in-person or online, I teach my patients to respect their body, listen to their rhythms to understand when systems are askew, listen to their inner voice, and use natural approaches to support the inherent healing mechanisms to restore balance.

Doing so requires time, patience, experience, and a deep knowledge of natural medicine to identify and aptly prescribe the myriad of ways we can facilitate, rather than interrupt, this natural healing process.

This is as “whole-body” as medicine can get. I trust in and am trained in this medicine – it is called Naturopathic medicine.

I also always consider your physical health in the context of your deeper emotional well-being.

After years of addressing my own health, exploring and learning about many different styles of practice, and seeing patients in my own clinical practice I have come to truly respect how individual practicing medicine and healing is.

What has struck me the most is that even when all physical parameters are addressed and corrected, optimal health does not always fully return. I learned this the hard way from my patients who, despite tried and true treatments, were just not improving.

This inspired me to learn more and more about the profound influence of our mindset and emotional well-being in our overall health.

I now prioritize discussing your physical concerns within the context of your mental and emotional health so as to allow for a deeper understanding of yourself, how you’ve arrived where you are, and where you may be struggling in your healing.

When we rebalance and restore your digestive function, identify and eliminate your food intolerances, manage your stress responses to balance the nervous system, and address your mental and emotional challenges, your health improves dramatically and the results are long-lasting. This is the kind of care I love providing.

Common medical conditions I treat often in my practice:

  • Digestive issues
  • Allergies
  • Autoimmune conditions
  • Thyroid conditions
  • Headaches/Migraines
  • Sleep issues
  • Adrenal fatigue and burnout
  • Menstrual issues
  • Chronic pain
  • Anxiety/Depression
  • Weight management
  • Hormone imbalances
  • Skin conditions
  • Acute conditions (UTIs, rashes, sore throats, ear infections)
No concern is too big or small when it comes to my naturopathic medical practice.

I want to hear the finer details about your health and understand your symptoms in order to identify the root cause(s) of your ailments – having an official diagnosis is not a prerequisite. Just because your concerns don’t fall on this list doesn’t mean you don’t qualify for care.

I am inspired by and work best with those who truly desire to dive into their health and align with a naturopathic approach.

I work as a Naturopathic Doctor in Victoria BC & Winnipeg MB, with a limited number of patients so it’s important that we are a good fit!

A “naturopath” is a generalized term which is often afforded to individuals who have completed online trainings of varying credibility and is not a regulated title.

When health practitioners call themselves “naturopaths” it often indicates they do not have the accredited medical training of naturopathic doctors.
